The LX is the entry-level Seltos trim, but it's surprisingly well equipped for its low starting price. The powertrain is built around a 2.0L four-cylinder gas engine making 146 horsepower, passed through a smooth continuously variable transmission to front-wheel drive as standard. The LX FWD is also the most fuel economical model in the Seltos range, delivering impressive figures of 8.2L / 100km in the city and 7.1L on the highway. Even at this entry level, infotainment is accessed through a generous 8" touchscreen display, offering smartphone integration as standard through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An extra 3.5" digital instrument display is embedded into the dash to deliver essential driving information. And lastly, the LX FWD is also supplied with a range of active safety and driver assist features, including a blind spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alerts.
The LX trim is available for a $2,000 upgrade cost, and adds all-wheel drive alongside 17" alloy wheels. The addition of AWD drops the fuel economy a little, although at 8.8L in the city and 7.6L on the highway, the LX is still a highly economical car.
The EX trim builds on the LX base by upgrading the interior with upscale extras including black leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and a keyless push button start function. The driver assist suite also gains a few extra valuable features, including forward collision avoidance assistance and lane follow assist.
The EX Premium trim adds LED headlights and fog lights, but the main raft of improvements are to the infotainment system. The touchscreen display size is boosted to an enormous 10.25", while the digital instrument display is likewise expanded to 7". The EX Premium is the fist Seltos trim to feature in-built navigation as standard, along with a wireless smartphone charging facility and the UVO Connect software suite. This last feature greatly expands the smartphone integration options, allowing remote control of many vehicle features such as ignition and climate control, as well as a host of security additions inclduing automatic SOS alerts and a stolen vehicle locator.
Lastly, the SX Turbo upgrades the engine to a 1.6L turbo model pushing out a healthy 175 hp, and pairs it with an upgraded seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Infotainment is also enhanced with a head-up display and a premium Bose sound system.
